A narrative, true or fictional, should grow out of its environment. Petty's stories should make sense in terms of where he is/was and how he (seems to be) integrated into that space/time. What I notice nowadays is narratives (told and "performed") that seem to come from somewhere that's not continuous with where that narrative is going on. The person's cobbled together persona leaks into (or out of?) somewhere else (TV or movies, etc.). As compared to old-fashioned self-delusions which seem to me to have been balloonings of what was still continuous/integrated with where a person "really" was.Julie Heywardhttp://unrealnature.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8937414969460147900.post-80220715434839781122011-10-21T13:19:31.020-07:002011-10-21T13:19:31.020-07:00I hope this makes sense

The dissonance is ... weird. [I hope this makes sense ...]Julie Heywardhttp://unrealnature.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
