I didn't know of a film made from either; I'll look out for Thirtheenth Floor.

Dick was also part of that same formative awakening ... he fought a sort of war in my developing mind with Heinlein, and (I'm glad to say) won.Felix Granthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02671307886543109425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8937414969460147900.post-83640920751357401262008-08-26T05:21:00.000-07:002008-08-26T05:21:00.000-07:00Of course, now I know that Dark Universe is neurol...Of course, now I know that Dark Universe is neurologically untenable (as far as I understand it, sight is like language - there's a crucial early period where you need input or will never develop it properly). In Dark Universe they merely had trouble with getting used to stuff like perspective. Nevertheless, the concept is still very interesting.

As to the others, only The Thirteenth Floor was based on Galouye (Dark City came from a story by Proyas). Although I don't dislike The Matrix, I find them both more interesting as they follow "discovery" plots. Unlike The Matrix, where Neo finds out quite soon what's going on and then goes in kicking ass, the stories are about the progression toward the discovery.Ray Girvanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05556764642402680159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8937414969460147900.post-79897397651355582632008-08-26T13:10:00.000-07:002008-08-26T13:10:00.000-07:00Keifer Sutherland ruined Dark City (the movie).Wei...Keifer Sutherland ruined Dark City (the movie).

Weird synch -- when I clicked on your linked YouTube video I was listening to Rammstein -- three tracks past Sonne. Hey, wow, you like Rammstein? Excellent. They are so dark yet spine-tinglingly inspiring. Sonne is probably my favourite, with Mein Herz Brennt a close second. The only bad thing about them is that they don't have enough songs; they do the same ones over and over again on all their CDs.

My favorite CDs are Mutter and, best of all, Volkerball: Live at Nimes.
