Dave Greig extremely kindly sent me these excellent 1897 photos (click to enlarge) of the Bessemer Saloon - the swinging cabin in Bessemer's experimental cross-Channel steamer of the same name - in its retirement as a lecture room at the Swanley Horticultural College, Kent.
The images came from a Victorian photo album Dave found in an antique bookshop in Edinburgh. Condition of use: an acknowledgement in memory of Ethel and Grace, the otherwise unidentified album creators.
